Matthew is a ten (10) years old Liberian refugee who has developed a swollen right face about six months ago. After extensive investigation by MDRP he was diagnosed with BURKITT’S LYMPHOMA. Matthew requires at least twenty courses of chemotherapy and surgery to treat his condition. Each course cost about 150.00 Ghana Cedis equivalent to about US$11.00 so he needs about three thousand Ghana Cedis equivalent to US$2,200 to complete his treatment.

Faces and Hands and Hope
In the times of famine in the deep, silent parts of Africa there are painful visions suffering that cross your line of vision and never seem to go away. Such are the views of despair that keep crossing the paths of the people of the tiny nation of Malawi. Year after year the hapless inhabitants of this nation of 13,000,000, in what is considered to be the 3rd or 4th poorest nation on earth, struggle to raise their gardens only to have too much or too little rain near the end of the season. Crops die and despair, hopelessness, and death pounce on the unsuspecting people like a waiting lion in a patch of dry grass.

Letter from the director
Dear Friends,
Children are the future of every country, they cannot care for themselves, earn money or speak for what is right. Children cannot help the color of their skin, where they were born or their circumstances and also who their parents are.
My reason for being in relief is to make a positive difference in the lives of suffering children. I have traveled overseas many times and witnessed their suffering and hopelessness. To invest in the life of a child is to invest in the future of our world. They are the future.
Blessings, Shirley Gremyachev, Director
